Facing up to your fears

Over the past twenty-five years, I have helped hundreds of couples with a wide variety of problems but at the bottom of them all there has been one common theme: fear.

We’re frightened of getting hurt, we’re frightened of upsetting our partner, we’re frightened of being abandoned, we’re frightened of being taken over and swallowed up, we’re frightened of being ignored, laughed at or not being attractive enough. We’re frightened if our partner knew the real us, they would reject us. The list is endless.

To cover up our fear or avoid thinking about it, we do all sorts of things which make things worse not better. However, if we can just confront these fears, look them straight in the eyes and not blink – we normally find our fears are either groundless or not as overwhelming as we first thought. And that’s what I aim to achieve on my next workshop…… to explore what frightens us in a safe environment, to help us reach out (rather than push our partner away) and come up with a simple stratergy to move forward.

If this sounds like something that would help you, there are more details in the Workshops section of this website. The course costs £175 – which covers a hot lunch and refreshments through the day. I keep the groups small, so there is plenty of personal attention from me and my colleague Debby Edwards. It also means you get a chance to get to know everybody else and support each other to Face your relationship fears. The course will run on Saturday 26th June.
